The Target Affiliate Program:
What You Need to Know

One of the best ways to profit from affiliate marketing is by promoting a product or service you believe in because you’re already using it yourself. This may not get any better than promoting a brand like Target! At one point or another, we’ve all shopped at Target, haven’t we? Learn more in this Target Affiliate Program overview.

Disclosure:  We recommend products we believe to be suited for our own use and for our readers. We may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you through purchases made via affiliate links on this page.

Suppose you’re a regular Target shopper and you decide to talk to a few hundreds, or a few thousands of your closest friends, about products you’re just seen or bought at Target yourself… You’re doing this in the form of a blog, or social media page – and we are all on social media, aren’t we?

Now, let’s say that Target decides to pay you for talking about your shopping experience every single time one of your “friends” places an order based on the products you’ve discussed, suggested or recommended.

In fact, Target states that they’ll pay you up to 8% of whatever the cost of that product is. So, if for example your friends order that $240 X Home Appliance you told them about, you can get paid a commission of around $20 for each and every order.

Well, that is not a supposition. That is in a nutshell what happens with the Target affiliate program.

How Does the Target Affiliate Program Actually Work?

The Target Affiliate Program is referred to as the "Partners Program" and allows participants to earn commission on sales referred to Target.com. Customized links are provided through Impact Radius, the program’s affiliate network.

When you apply for the program via Impact Radius, you get approval to become an associate of Target. You receive customized links that are unique to you. These links allow you to promote Target products in your social media posts, blog, website, etc.

Marketing creatives like banners, widgets, text links and other tools are provided to you and when your visitors click through to Target.com via these links, that visitor is automatically tracked for you. Anytime during a period of 7 days called a 7-day cookie, if he or she places an order, you are credited the commission for that order.

The program administrator, Impact Radius, keeps an accurate account of all transactions electronically and you can track it all by logging into your account with them. The more of the visitors that you refer to Target.com make a purchase, the more commission you get paid.

You also get paid for every subsequent purchase made by that referred visitor during that 7-day cookie window.

What Are the Requirements to Join?

To join, simply apply for the Target Partners Program at partners.target.com. The program is free to join and is open to any website owner, blogger or social media partakers provided that the content you produce is family-friendly with a mainly US-based viewership.

Applicants from anywhere in the world are also welcome to join as long as their content targets the U.S. market and their country of residence is supported by Impact Radius.

It’s probably a good idea to familiarize yourself with Impact Radius in general - which is a leading marketing affiliate platform and digital marketing marketplace. On the Impact Radius Walkthrough page, you’ll find a global list of countries supported, if this concern applies to you.
